Oriol Broggi
Theatre director
Oriol Broggi is one of the most renowned theatre directors in Catalonia and abroad thanks to his ability to adapt the classics into awe-inspiring pieces. He graduated in Dramaturgy and Stage Direction from the Institut del Teatre of Barcelona in 1997 and completed studies in image and sound. In 2002, he founded La Perla 29, a theatre production centre and company associated with the Library of Catalonia, and has been artistic director of the company ever since. Within this structure, he has directed various productions, including: Els Fusells de la Senyora Carrà by Bertolt Brecht, El Misantrop by Molière, La Mort d'Ivan Ilitx by Leo Tolstoy, and Enric IV by Luigi Pirandello. He adapted Wadji Mouawad’s famous trilogy into Catalan La Sang de les Promeses (Blood of Promises) comprised of four plays Litoral (Tideline), Incendis (Scorched), Boscos (Forests), and Cels (Heavens). He recently brought to the stage Tots Ocells (Birds of a Kind, 2024) as part of the 2024 Festival Grec.
